ADB to review its Accountability Mechanism Policy
The Asian Development Bank is finally set to review its Accountability Mechanism Policy. The Board Compliance Review Committee has endorsed an approach paper for the policy review and has committed to conducting an external review. Accountability Counsel calls for a review process that is independent, transparent, and consults with project-affected communities and civil society organizations.
World Bank extends public consultation period on its Evolution Roadmap
The World Bank Group is undertaking a review of its mission, operating model, and financial model to better meet global challenges including climate change, pandemics, and fragility, conflict and violence. Public comments on an “Evolution Roadmap” are now open until July 31, 2023. Accountability Counsel is urging the World Bank to recognize that any expansion of its operations will require increased accountability to communities.
EBRD is accepting comments on its Environmental & Social and Access to Information Policies
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is reviewing its “Good Governance Policies:” the Environmental and Social safeguards and the Access to Information Policy. Accountability Counsel calls for the new safeguards to enshrine a commitment from EBRD to remedy project harms.
