Description
Etileno XXI will supply a significant portion of the Mexican market's PE needs. Furthermore, due to its scale, state-of-the-art technology, feedstock and logistical advantages, the Project is expected to achieve costs that place it in the top quartile in the industry. Etileno XXI is also the first private sector downstream petrochemical investment to which PEMEX Gas will supply ethane. Industrializing ethane significantly increases its value when compared to alternative uses. Moreover, the Project will also create approximately 6,000 jobs during construction and 3,000 jobs during operations in a region with high unemployment and low GDP per capita. The Project is the largest petrochemical project in Mexico in the last 30 years, one of the most substantial foreign direct investments by a Brazilian firm outside Brazil, and the biggest project ever jointly undertaken by Brazil and Mexico.
