Description

This intervention focuses on the second phase of the Alcazar Solar Project. This project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant with a nominal capacity of 50 MW in Benban area, 50 km north of Aswan City in Upper Egypt. It's one of Alcazar’s two projects under the FiT program. The Project will be constructed in Benban, 40km north of Aswan (Egypt), where the direct solar radiation is 2,280 kWh/m2. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (“EETC”) will construct the required substations and transmission lines with an interconnection cost of EGP 0.95m per MW. The Project Alcazar I is part of a larger Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) program initiated by the Government of Egypt in 2014 in order to reach the target of 20% renewable energy in the generation mix by 2020. The FiT program will add 4,300 MW to the country’s generation capacity from renewable sources. Otherwise, the polycrystalline technology based solar PV modules and single axis tracker system will be used for the power plant. The solar tracker will allow PV panels to track the movement of the sun to ensure maximum power output.
