Description

The Project is the third tranche of a multi-tranche financing facility aimed at supporting the Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program of the Government of Pakistan. The investment program was designed to provide grid-connected customers adequate and reliable electricity supply through (i) the improvement of power distribution infrastructure; (ii) enabling continued operation and maintenance per best international practices; and (iii) commercialization of the operation of power distribution companies. The Pakistan Electric Power Company has been nominated by the Ministry of Water and Power to act as executing agency, with each power distribution company as implementing agency for work in its own area. Based on the periodic financing request, Tranche 3 will include works on secondary transmission grids (STG) and STG transmission lines. Project activities include augmentation replacement of power transformers with higher capacity transformers; extension addition of power transformers; conversion of existing 66-kV substations to 132-kV substations with enhanced transformation and current carrying capacity; addition of new 132-kV grid station; conversion of existing 66-kV transmission lines to 132-kV transmission lines; replacement of existing transmission lines to increase load carrying capacity; and extension addition of transmission lines. The complaint is about works on new 132 kV Grid Station along with Associated Transmission Line at DHA Phase -VI (Barki) sub-project which is implemented by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) for which a draft initial environmental assessment report was prepared by LESCO in September 2012.
