IFC's Performance Standards Need Community-Led Accountability
February 2025
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is planning to update its Performance Standards, the environmental and social rules governing its investments. However, a critical gap remains in how the IFC evaluates how well it has implemented the current Performance Standards: it does not measure or report on negative impacts. Case data from the Accountability Console should also convince IFC to expand its monitoring and evaluation of its performance to include negative environmental and human rights impacts raised by local communities.
