On 19 July 2016, the EIB Complaints Mechanism (EIB-CM) received a complaint about alleged negative environmental impacts of the project "Grand Contournement Ouest de Strasbourg". On the basis of the "Environmental and Social Data Sheet" relating to the project, the complainant criticised the EIB for lacking knowledge of the file. The complainant informed the EIB of the alleged non-compliance of the project with European law and, in particular, with the Directive 85/337/EEC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. The complainant considers that the implementation of the project is in total contradiction with the environmental and social principles and standards adopted by the EIB.
