The Panel received a Request for Inspection on June 20, 2016, which completes correspondence received since May 1, 2016. The complaint relates to the Bank-financed Uganda Water Management and Development Project and the Uganda Private Power Generation (Bujagali) Project. The Requesters claimed that the two projects will fail their objective to remedy the environmental and social harms that may occur in the Kalagala Offset Area from the filling of the reservoir for the downstream Isimba dam. The Panel reviewed the Request in accordance with its procedures and has issued a Notice of Registration on September 6, 2016. On September 19, 2016, the Inspection Panel received a second Request for Inspection related to the World Bank-financed Uganda Private Power Generation (Bujagali) Project, the Water Management and Development Project and the Energy for Rural Transformation Phase III Project. The Panel registered this complaint on September 22, 2016, and is processing both Requests jointly as they raise similar issues.
